Take The Time Chords, Lyrics, Sheet Music – MercyMe
You can turn around and walk away
Tell yourself there’s nothing here to see
Try so hard to look the other way
As if you haven’t noticed anything
You do it to the least of these
You do it to me
You gotta take the time
Oh, you gotta take the time
Shallow is the voice of no concern
Running through the bridges that we’ve burned
You can’t even feel your own demise
So how can you pretend to lead the blind
I’m the hungry and the weak
Can you even see me
I’m the stranger all alone
Won’t you welcome me home
I’m the naked and ashamed
Won’t you look my way
You gotta take the time
You gotta take the time
You gotta take, take, take, take the time
You gotta take, take, take, take the time
You gotta take, take, take, take the time
You gotta take, take, take, take the time
You gotta take, take, take, take the time
You gotta take, take, take, take the time
You gotta take, take, take, take the time
Oh you take the time

I wish these very talented musicians would include in their lyrics some of the basic tenets of scripture. Please ask them to consider including some of the following in their songs; Something about the blood, the Name of Jesus, the cross, the work of the cross, the sufferings of our Savior, the Holiness of God, mans position in relationship to the sacrifice, humility, adoration of Jesus for his precious work on the cross. We use the name of God so much in the generic today that it seems anyone who hears music and the words cannot determine which God. We know many call the moslem god, lord but if we constantly use the word God or god nothing is really being said regarding the one and only true God and Jesus Christ. Thank you very much for your considerations in this matter. We have stopped using any music in our song service which does not include the things listed above. Reason being we had a person come who really thought the service was great when we sang one of the more recent songs. He stated that he felt our church was tolerant of all gods because we didn’t make him use the name of Jesus or the cross. Of course I explained the song writer intended to mean the triune God of the Bible. His response was I can’t come here anymore because it appeared to him that his god was the one he thought was being addressed.
I trust that this is not seen as a criticism but a way of enhancing the praise and glory to the one and only true God and Jesus Christ. He is worthy of all of our praise and to name the name of Jesus precious to Him. May our God and Savior Jesus Christ Bless you as you serve Him. Jim
